Jeison Rosario upset Julian Williams at Liacouras Center in Philadelphia PA. Willams hometown! To take Williams WBA & IBF super welterweight/light-middleweight championships! What’s next for the newly crowned champion? A rematch is very likely. In his post-fight interview after being beat, Williams said that he plans to invoke a rematch clause. I think the PBC really likes Williams and has big plans for him. So it would not surprise me if he gets his rematch right away. If that doesn’t happen I think matching Rosario up with Erislandy Lara makes a lot of sense. Rosario is Dominican and Lara is Cuban. They both make their homes (according to boxrec) in the southeast United States. Rosario in Miami FL & Lara Houston TX. Just 2 and a half mins of flight time separate the two cities. I will say this I do feel that matching Rosario in a rematch with Williams or with Lara. will be from the PBC’s view more about giving Williams and Lara an opportunity than it is to further Rosario’s career.
What’s Next For Joe Smith Jr After Beating Jesse Hart? Who will Joe Smith Jr. face after winning the WBO/NABO Light Heavyweight championship by 10 round split decision over Jesse Hart? Welcome To Sports Talk With Troy Where I may or may not be an Expert, but I am a long-time fan with an informed and knowledgable opinion who enjoys talking about sports! I think Smith’s most likely options are The winner of Eleider Alvarez & Michael Seals who fight for the vacant WBC/Continental Americas Light Heavyweight championship on ESPN+ next week or Former WBO Super Middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez for the Vacant WBO Light Heavyweight championship that Canelo Alvarez vacated.
What’s Next For Terence Crawford After Beating Egidijus Kavaliauskas? Terence (Bud) Crawford stops Egidijus (Mean Machine) Kavaliauskas in 9 rounds to retain his WBO welterweight championship! What’s next for one of boxing’s top Pound for Pound stars? Don’t expect a fight with Errol Spence Jr. or any of the PBC promoted welterweights. Crawford’s promoter Bob Arum and Top Rank can line up a couple of good challenges in Alexander Besputin who holds 1/3 of the WBA championship with Manny Pacquiao & Vergil Ortiz Jr. As well as Kudratillo Abdukakhorov who is the Top contender for Spence’s IBF championship. However, neither Besputin or Abdukakhorov really bring any name recognition. This brings us to WBC & WBO super lightweight champion Jose Carlos Ramirez. I think as long as he beats Viktor Postol (and I think he will). I think Ramirez will move up in weight to face Crawford. If Postal beats Ramirez I think either Besputin or Abdukakhorov will get their chance. Postal lost to Crawford in 2016 and is the last man to go the distance with Crawford. Naoya Inoue Defeats Nonito Donaire Wins WBSS! Naoya (The Monster) Inoue wins a unanimous decision over (The Filipino Flash) Nonito Donaire at the Super Arena in Saitama Japan to unify the IBF & WBA bantamweight championships. As well as win the Muhammad Ali Trophy in the World Boxing Super Series. I think the organizers of the WBSS envisioned a final between Inoue and Ryan Burnett. However, Donaire who Burnett. picked to face in the first round of the WBSS beat him and went on to win his next fight. Despite not being the final the WBSS wanted. Donaire was able to dig deep into his reserves and provided much stiffer competition to Inoue, who has earned his nickname “the Monster” with a string of KO victories over some very good opponents. Both men had their moments. Both hurt each other. Inoue had Donaire hurt and ready to go in the 5th. Donaire had Inoue hurt and ready to go in the 9th. In the 11th Inoue drooped Donaire with a body shot. Donaire finished the round and the 12 round distance. Scores were 116-111/117-109/114-113. All in Naoya Inoue’s favor!
Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko Preview! Gennady (GGG) Golovkin faces Sergiy (The Technician) Derevyanchenk on October 5, 2019, for the vacant IBF & IBO middleweight championships of the world. The fight will be broadcast by DAZN from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Golovkin is 39-1-1 with 35 stoppage wins Derevyanchenko is 13-1 with 10 stoppage wins. Don’t be fooled by the small amount of fights Derevyanchenko is the real deal. I would not be surprised to see the fight even after 8 rounds. Derevyanchenko could pull the upset, but I’m picking Golovkin to pull away in the later rounds and to become the IBF & IBO middleweight champion.
A Gift For GGG? Gennady Golovkin/Sergiy Derevyanchenko Review. Gennady Golovkin wins a close decision over Sergiy Derevyanchenko to become IBF and also IBO middleweight champion! GGG won a disputed unanimous decision by scores of 114-113 and 115-112 twice. Without the knockdown in the first round by Golovkin scores would have been 114-114 and 115-113 twice. Officially the knockdown did not affect the fight. However, plenty of observers fell that GGG got a gift and The Technician as Derevyanchenko is known should have been crowned champion. Personally, I thought it was a close fight that could have gone either way. Neither Golovkin or Derevyanchenko were able to take advantage of opportunities in the fight.
Sergiy Derevyanchenko Has Options After GGG Fight! I tend to make one What’s Next Video after a Fight, but I wanted to try making videos for both Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Gennady Golovkin! Please stay tuned to this channel for my GGG video! In this video, I am focused on Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Who, despite not getting the decision has created for himself more options than at any point in his career!
Is It Time For GGG To Move Up To Super Middleweight? Sometimes the simple explanation is the correct one. If you feel that Sergiy Derevyanchenko deserved the decision against Gennady Golovkin the simple explanation may just be that in October of 2019 Derevyanchenko is a better boxer than GGG.
Derevyanchenko is absolutely deserving of a rematch and Golovkin has options if he decides to stay at 160. Demetrius Andrade & Ryota Murata are makable fights. I don’t think Canelo Alvarez is going to be GGG’s next fight and he may have to move up to 168 to secure a third fight. At 168 there is the winner of Callum Smith/John Ryder, but I think a fight with Billy Joe Saunders might create more interest.
Canelo Kovalev Official November 2nd! Saul Canelo Alvarez will take on Sergey Kovalev for Kovalev’s WBO light heavyweight championship. Vasiliy Lomachenko adds the WBC lightweight championship to his WBA & WBO championships with a 12 round decision over Luke Campbell at the O2 Arena in London. While I thought Campbell fought as smart and good of a fight as he could have. He had his moments. I fell that Lomachenko clearly won the fight. I also fell that if it wasn’t for Campbell’s double lege takedown of Lomachenko in the 12th round Lomachenko who scored a knockdown in the 11th round would have at least scored a second knockdown in the 12th round.
Regis Prograis Pulls Out Of World Boxing Super Series!
Prograis the WBA 140 pound champion was set to face Josh Taylor who holds the IBF championship at 140 in the finals of the World Boxing Super Series. Has pulled out of the competition.
The scheduled unification bout was expected to take place in October.
In July Jose Ramirez added the WBO championship to his WBC championship. Ideally, the winner of Prograis & Taylor would have faced Ramirez for the undisputed championship at 140. That is now on hold.
